- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
For the Sandwiches:
- 6 large hoagie or sub rolls
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley

- Cook beef: Heat olive oil in skillet. Sauté onion 3–4 minutes, add garlic. Stir in beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Make sauce: Reduce heat. Stir in tomato paste, then add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 12–15 minutes until thick.
- Prepare rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice rolls lengthwise without cutting through. Place cheddar slice inside each roll.
- Assemble: Spoon sloppy joe filling into rolls. Top with mozzarella. Brush tops with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and parsley.
- Bake: Place sandwiches on baking sheet. Bake 8–10 minutes until cheese melts and bread is golden.
